Volume 6, No, 21 LONGLAC PULP AND PAPER COMPANY LIMITED AND LOCAL MILL UNIONS RENEW LABOUR AGREEMENT On May 23rd, 1956, the International Brotherhood of Pulp Sulphite and Paper Mill Workers Local 665 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1861 concluded negotiations with the LongLac Pulp and Paper Company and as a result the renewal of the Labour Agreement was signed extending to April 30th, 1958. In addition to some local wage rate adjustments the following was the min basis of settlement: 1. A general increase of twelve cents per hour effective May lst, 1956. 2. <A general increase of five per cent shall be applied effective May 1st,1957. 3 Increase of shift premium of l¢ per hour for shift workers on the 2nd shift, and increase of 2¢ per hour for the 3rd shift, 4. Agreement to pay one dollar per month towards the premium cost of Physicians Services Incorporated for each employee enrolled in the Plan. The following individuals were in at- tendance during these negotiations, Henry Bell and Ed Ryan representing the Inter- national Officers of the Pulp and Sulphite Union, along with Don Husband, Pete Romaniuk Syd Spencer, Harold McKechnie, Joe Campbell, and Reg Cotton, from Local 665, Jack Shirkie from Winnipeg for the Electrical Workers along with Harry Byers, Phil Stuart, and John Garvin from Local 1861, Mr, J. C. Wig, Mill Manager, LongLac Pulp and Paper Company headed up the manage~ ment group at these negotiations, o-0--0 LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY May 24th, 1956. RUMMAGE SALE SATURDAY A Rummage Sale will be held on Sat- urday May 26th at 9:30 a.m. in the Terrace Bay Garage sponsored by the Community Church L.A. Please have it ready, or leave it in front porch or step when canvassers call, o-0-0 HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY MEETING ON FRIDAY Mr, Fred MacDonald, Fort William Hort- iculturalist, will be guest speaker at to- morrow nights (May 25th) meeting of the Society. Accompanying him to take part in the evenings programme, will be Mr, A. Widnall, Mrs, Rollanson and Mr, Lovelady. During the evening films will be shown and floral decoration and arrangement will be demonstrated, Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting. o-0-0 NORTH SHORE HOCKEY LEAGUE ANNUAL MEETING SUNDAY IN TERRACE BAY The Annual Meeting of the North Shore Hockey League will be held at 1:30 Sunday afternoon in Terrace Bay. Because of the recent departure of President D. C. Porter, Vice-President A. J. Currie of Red Rock will preside, Approximately forty members consisting of governors, team representatives and Arena Managers from Marathon, Terrace Bay, Schreiber Nipigon, Red Rock and Geraldton will be in attendance as well as representatives of the Thunder Bay Amateur Hockey Association, Included in the lengthy agenda will be (Cont. on page 9)
