N OLD-FASHIONED RICE PUDDING 3 3 eggs 5 cups cooked rice, drained 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt i/fe2 cup seedless raisins 2 cups milk ground nutmeg cherry, raspberry or strawberry syrup, if desired. Place cooked rice in large bowl. Beat eggs, add sugar, salt, raisins and milks; stir well; add to rice and mix well. Pour mixture into oiled 1-1/2 qt. baking dish; sprinkle with nutmeg and bake in a moderate oven (350°F,) until custard is set, about 30 to 40 minutes, To test doneness, insert. a silver knife into center of pudding; when it comes out clean, custard is cooked, Serve with cherry, raspberry or strawberry syrup,.if, desired. 0-0-0 STORK CLUB NEWS Congratulations this week go to Mr. and Mrs, Albert Bourguignon on the birth of a son on May 12th, 1956, 0-0-0 AROUND THE TOWN Sympathy is exprssed to Pi pasnes Regis whose brother, Sgt. Lucien Regis was accidentally killed in Montreal last week, Alf attended the funeral in Mont real last Wednesday. Alf's Mothers, Mrs. R, Regis and sister Mrs. Jack Campbell are visiting with the Regis! family this week before returning home to Winnipeg. Another brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Dominique Regis had visited with Alf and Peggy a few days earlier in the week enroute to Winnipeg from Ottawa, (Cont. on next col.) Page i AROUND THE TOWN (Cont. ) Miss L, Lavender returned home last week from two weeks in Winnipeg visiting with friends there, after attending Con- vocation with her brother, Dr. Arthur Lavender. Sheila and Jack Todd entertained at their home Saturday evening for Miss Sue Arabia of Port *rthur and Dennis Brophy, son of Mr, and Mrs, George Brophy and a graduate this year from the University of New Bruns- wick. Some twenty guests were in attendance Saturday evening, and a lovely gift was presented on behalf of the group. Sue and Dennis will be married on the 2lst in St. Anthony's Church, Port Arthur, Mr. George Brophy has his sister, Mrs. Dickie of Montreal visiting with him, and she will also attend the wedding in Port Arthur, Mrs, Marg Phillips and Mrs, Babe Knight entertained at the home of the latter Monday evening honouring Miss Margaret Flewelling at a Miscellaneous shower, Margaret's marriage to Mr. Doug Knight will be an event of the 26th in the Terrace Bay Community Church, Mrs..S. Graham returned to her home in Toronto last Saturday following a six week's visit with her son, Des Evans-Smith and family. Attending the Scouters Conference held last Saturday the 12th in St. Paul's United Church in the Youth Centre Auditorium were Jean and Bill Megraw, Doris Hansford, Roland Wills and Jack Marsh of Terrace Bay. Gathering all leaders and auxiliary and group committee members this conference took in all Northwestern Ontario from Marathon to Kenora, Mildred and Vic Welsh visited at the Lakehead last weekend, Edward Ford of Fort William spent last weekend visiting with his sister, ney Ander- son and family. Mr, and Mrs, John Mundie (many will remember John while on summer work here previously) with his parents, visited at the Bill Megraws last weekend, Bella Begin spent a week visiting with her family in Hearst, Ont. and together with sisters Florence and Noelle travelled to Montreal for a week's visit there, Bella returning to Terrace Bay last week, Doreen and Bill Kurylo and family spent last week visiting in the Lakehead with Doreen's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Spiess and Bill's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kurylo, Steffie Dorman had her brother Mike Boyko of Manitouwadge visiting her. Mrs, A, Pinkerton from South River, ont. is visiting with her son and daughter-in-law Garnet and Jean Pinkerton.
