OUR NEW SAFETY CONTEST "The 64,000 Penny Contest"! 1. The "64,000 Penny Contest" involving every LongLac employee will operate frem May lst to Decembér 31st, 1956, 2. Competing will be 21 units as follows: Wood Yard, Wood Room, Jackladder,. Bleachery, Kiln Caustic and Evaps, Dig., Br. Stock and Screens,-Machine Room, Electrical,. Engineering Office, Steam and Recovery, Structural, Pipefitters, Painters and Oilers, Mechanical, Hotel, Townsite Crew, Hospital, Warehouse, Service Operations, Admin.. Office, and Technical. 3. During the contest, each unit will. compete only against its own ability to prevent injuries in order to earn money. 4, Earnings will be computed monthly at the rate of 15 pennies per employee for all units working without a lost-time injury. >» There will be deductions from earnings, however, on the fellowing basis: (a) 5 pennies ver employee for every doctor care case ita (b) 10 pennies per employee for every . unreported accident é NOTE: There is no deduction of any sort for an injury promptly revorted to the foree 6. .The 64,000 pennies will go into a display in the safety window along with 21 fish bowls (one for each unit, labelled). Earnings will be deposited in the fish bowls monthly. ahh 7. All penalty money from doctor care cases and unreported accidents will go into a larger bowl. . Proceeds from it will be awarded for Good Housekeeving to the three best kept departments during the entire contest (based on totals from monthly" = ratings). The split will be on a 3-2-1 basis. In turn, departments will be ex~ pected to proportion such winnings to their units according to size. 8. Unit or safety committees shall decide how monies earned shall be expended. In no case is money to be distributed. And vouchers are not recommended. If a safety committee is unable to arrive at a satisfactory decision, the matter shall be referred to the Contest Committee for consideration and recommendations,
