_ SECOND ANNUAL AMATEUR SHOW ts Knights of Columbus will again sponsor the Annual Amateur Show which proved so tremendously popular last year. It is hooked for late April or early May in the High School Auditorium, Final plans are just now being drawn up. Some changes are being contemplated, notably the exten- sion to 3 classes of competition by adding an Adult division to the Elementary and Secondary School divisions held last year. Parents, particularly, are urged to bear this: date in mind and encourage their child- rendto begin rehearsing their proposed _numbers now. Bill Sernesky will again head this endeavour and he would be pleased to receive any suggestions that will ne to improve this show. 0-0-0 Jo ATKINSON SPEAKS TO KIWANIS CLUB On Tuesday eve evening ng at the Kiwanis Club!s regular meeting the guest speaker, introduced by Ray Kenney was Mr, Joe Atkinson, manager of the Dorion Fish Hatchery. Mr, Atkinson gave a very interesting talk on the breeding, raising and distri- bution of fish in this district, He also enlarged on the progress which has been made at Dorion since the Hatchery was started in the early 1930's, The problems of the early days. of the Hatchery were ably pointed out by the speaker who followed through with a detailed report of the progress that has been made to the stage where today the whole process of breeding, raising and distribution is largely streamlined, Following the talk there was'a RAS period, during which many questions were -- ably answered by Mr. Atkinson and Mr. Dick Ryder, District Biologist with the Dept. of Lands and Forests at the Lakehead.
