BASKETBALL, Sports fans, if you haven't made any plans for the evening of February 4th, 1956 or the afternoon of February 5th, 1956, why not attend the basketball games that will be played in the high school gym. We are sure you will see plenty of good clean action when the Terrace Bay men's team plays host to the East Ends of Fort William, the Lakeheads best basket- ball team, To be cure, the local five will be the underdogs but an enthusiastic crowd can be a great equalizer. Many people think the Last Ends are too good for Terrace Bay, but. your team doesn!t and they're hoping to prove these doubtful people wrong, To date this year's squad has played 2 games against Marathon and won each of them and now they are eagerly looking forward to these two games with the Lakehead's number one outfit. These games will give the people of Terrace Bay a fine opportunity to see how the calibre of Basketball played in Terrace Bay compares with that played in the Lakehead, The East Ends will bring down a team that has lest only one game and is cur- rently. firmiy entrenched in first place in the Lakehead's Senior Basketball League,. They are led by Peter Dika who is very fast.and an excellent shooter, a trem- endous player, He has received fine scoring supvort from Hee McRitchie and Paton while Petchik, a 6! 43" center does much of their rebounding, They are a fast, flashy and entertaining ball club and looking over their personnel, it is easy to see why theyhave such a fine record, They scorel their latest victory over Atikokan 101-85 so you can see we've got work cut out for us, This season's Terrace Bay team has youth, experience and plenty of hustle, Kit Thomas and Phil Miller, both youngsters are developing into good basketball players and are improving with each game, They both are anxious to show the home folks that they are ready for any kind of com- (Cont. on next col.) There is no substitute for ex perience and Jack Dawson, Al Harrison, John Kelly, John Morrison, Al Pattison and Glenn Sievers provide plenty of it on this year's team, Harrison and Sievers are the leading point getters to date with 26 and 43 points respectively in 2 games, Whether they will be able to maintain this pace will be an~ swered. However, five men make up a-team and we feel the team that will represent Terrace Bay Saturday evening, February 4th and Sunday afternoon February 5th will give a good account of themselves and of Terrace Bay.
