ARCUND THE TOWN (Conte ) Saturday wday night, October 15th was the occasion for a farewell party in honeur: of Dick Jones of Terrace Bay who left Monday, October 17th, for Blind River, Ontario, This event took place in the Curling Glub Lounge of the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre from 8:00 to 12:00. About eighty- five of his many friends were present. Refreshments and a delicious side table lunch were served and during the evening Dick was presented with a matched set of luggage, Dancing completed a pleasant even~ inge Mr. and Mrs, J. Andrews of Englehart, Ontario are visiting with their daughter, Mrs, Ernie Rowson. J. Fraser is to follow up on this matter. 5e Little Theatre The Fort William Little Theatre wish to sponsor a 3-act comedy here on November 12th. It was suggested that this.mtter be turned over to the Hockey Association as there is some fund raising potential in it. 6. O.R.A, Meeting' b A meeting of recreation committee in this area will be held in Terrase Bay on Saturday, November 5th. 7. Minor Hockey A request from Minor Hockey ior Seetne assistance was tabled until the next meet- ing in order to hear from Jd. Adamo, Chair-- man of Minor'Hockey this year. A, further' discussion. of minor hockey followed and. it was very definitely agreed that the actuai operation of Minor Hockey was the official How ever, the recreation director will have an employee at-his disposal who is a qualified boys hockey coach and when con- ditions permit this man may be made avail- able for some good coaching provided that the minor hockey managers wish to use him, The chairman also pointed out that we must not forget that when minor hockey is discyssed that most people chink of the , - Juvenile team but that the buik of the boys are in the PeeWees and. other young teams and if emphasis is to be placed on numbers playing that this is where it should go, A further conclusion was reached that the Terrace Bay Amateur Hockey Association - is a very competent organization and are to be congratulated for their excellent in- terest and control of Terrace Bay Hockey. o-0-0 CHRISTMAS CARDS Once again starting this. week the Boy Scouts and members of the group committee will be around to see you and show you our fine selection of Xmas cards, cc.
