NSH L. CALLS FOR REFEREES The Annual Meeting of the North Shore Hockey League held last Sunday in Marathon was by far the best attended and most successful, Revealed at this meeting was the fact that in the 76 games spon- sored by the League there were over 49,000 peid admissions bringing in a gross of over $26,000 and after paying arenas, clubs, referees and other expenses, the League finds itself in a good financial position. During the three hour meeting, many items were discussed and passed for the betterment of the League, The Board of Governors meeting will be held on Sunday, October 23rd in Nipigon at which time the election of chaired officers will take place, Representing Terrace Bay on this Board are D, Ce Porter and P, E, Mazza, Those wishing to become witeneen are requested to submit written applications to either D. C. Porter or P, E,. Mazza before November lst. Applications after this date will not be considered, 0-0-0 MEMO TO_ALL LONGLAC EMPLOYEES: Unless something unforeseen arises, we established a new mill-wide safety record (as of midnight October llth) of 270 days without a reportable disabling injury. Involved are more than a million man hours, This exceeds the previous record of 269 days set back in 1952, As a memento of the occasion, every LongLac employee will receive a suitably inscribed "Golden Retractable Fluid Graphite Ball Point Pencil", Our sights are not set on a two million man hour goal, Not that records are the most important thing in a good accident prevention program, But when new records are being set we can be sure that the program is paying off in the kind of dividends that really count....freedom from pain,...from suffering,...from heartache....from loss of payeeseefrom all the evils that usually accompany disabling injuries, So let's keep the safe days growing} D.
