Volume 4, No. 49 RECREATION CENTRE DEDICATION TAKES PLACE The official opening of the Terrace Bay Memorial Recreation Centre is now part of the history of Terrace Bay; a part of Terrace Bay's history which will long be remembered by its citizens. The week-end of December 4th and oth, saw thousands of residents and visitors making use of the Recreation Centre, While at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday December 4th, the Dedication Ceremony took place. Mr. F, S. Seaborne, Vice-President of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, on behalf of the LongLac Pulp and Paper Co, presented the Centre for its operation to the Chairman of the Improvement District of Terrace Bay, Mr. H. C, Laundy. Mr. Laundy appropriately thanked Mr. Seaborne on behalf of all the people in Terrace Bay, The Honourable Clare Mapledoram, Minister of Lands and Forests for Ontario, unveiled the plaque which read "Dedicated 1954 to those who served Canada during World War II", Other guests and speakers at the dedication Ceremony were C, H. Sage, Vice- "resident of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, David I, Nattress, Hydro Manager for North- western Ontario, George Wardrope, M,L,.A., for the Port Arthur District, and Gordon rowlandson, Chairman of the Terrace Bay Rec- reation Association, Mr, D. GC. Porter, Mill Manager, was the presiding officer for the occasion, Rev- erend Arthur Lavender presented the Invoca- tion, The Terrace Bay Men's Chorus pre- sented several selections, All the facilities of the Centre were very imuch in use over the week-end, There (Cont. on next cole) LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY December 9, 1954.
