HAUGHN WINS WEIGHT-GUESSING CONTEST The winner of the Terrace Bay Baseball Association weight-guessing contest was Harris Haughn, who guessed closest to the actual weight of the winning fish in the Terrace Bay Fish Derby on July lst. This popular contest will be repeated for the Rossport Derby July 25th, the pro- ceeds again going to help the cause of baseball in Terrace Bay, 'Tickets may be obtained at various business establish- ments or from members of the Baseball Association executive. Tickets will also be sold at the Rossport Derby until wéighing- in time on July 25th. 0-0-0 SENIOR BALL GAME Saturday evening, July 17th at 6:15 here in Terrace Bay there will be a senior ball game against Marathon, See You At the Ball Game, 0-0-0 SOFTBALL NEWS Last Friday Alf Adrian beat Shift #1 by striking out sixteen men, the season's high, The final score was 7-5 for Shift #3, but regardless of the score Alf really pitched a great game, giving up only 5 hits and 'striking outthe side three times. Shift #3 also made Alf's chore a lot harder by com. itting seven errors. In the 3rd inning, Alf hit a two run homer, these two runs eventually proved to be the margin of victory for #3. Sunday Shift #2 won their 9th game in ten starts by easily defeating Shift #3 by the score of 12-3. Errors were directly responsible for #2's first.5 runs. Given this big lead Ed Aho pitched a nice game, allowing only 5 hits, and turning on the steam when he needed it. Eddie outpitched Alf Adrian, who definitely was not es sharp as Friday night. Shift #3 had many opportunities to score, but could only get three runs on 3 hits in the 3rd inning. Jim Noro tripled and Tim Bond hit 2 for 2 for #2 while Len Crockford got 2 singled in 4 at bat for #3. _ At this stage of the race it's hard to see how #2 can fail to cop the top spot in the league standings at the season's end. Monday night Shift #1 waited until the 6th and 7th and then exploded for 4 and 5 runs to swamp Salary by the score of 13-8, The game was very close for 5 innings with the score being tied at this point 4-4, but those last 2 innings quickiv sealed Salary's fate, Shift #1 combined 5 Salary errors with 3 walks and 17 (count'em) hits to produce their 13 runs. Salary mixed up 3 walks, 4 #1 errors, and 9 hits to get their 8 runs. Gordon Black was the big man for #1, hitting a homer with 1 man on and getting 3 for 4.
