SOFTBALL Last Friday night Shift #2 met Shift #1 in a battle for lst place, For Shift i*2 & win was needed to extend their un- beaten string to 5 straight games, Relying on a tight defense together with good pitching by Eddie Aho, #2 took this im- portant game by a 4-1 score, Osmar, #2 shortstop, played an excellent game both offensively and defensively, tho! it was his big bat that broke #1's back, | In the 3rd, Osmar doubled, driving home Bond who also had doubled, and in the 5th Osmar hit a home run, his 3rd of the year, into deep right field, The .. other 2 runs of #2 were the direct result of 4 errors by #1 on plays which could have easily retired the side, Frank Whitfield scored #f1's only run by doubling, taking third on a wild pitch and scoring on McInnis' single, this game certainly was well pitched all the way and without a doubt was a crowd pleaser and enjoyable to watch, ~ Line Score: R. Lee mee ae ee Ce oe Alex Chisholm wasn't satisfied to just win the Charles-Marciano fight pool and so he walked back to the hotel $3.25 richer by holding the lucky ticket for the draw, Both Sunday's and Monday's games were postponed due to heavy Terrace Bay dew, These games will be re-scheduled and played at some later dates, Looking magnificent in their new red and blue uniforms, Townsite-Maintenance didn't look quite that good out on the field and so lost 11-4 to Shift #4-Struct.
