oe" RECREATION FEES At a recent meeting of the Recreation Committee, the matter of Membership fees was discussed and certain policies were formulated. As a matter of interest,to all members it is pointed out that for all persons on the LongLac Company's payroll who pay $1.00 per month, the Cempany's payroll department deducts this amount from pay-cheques and turns the total amount of deductions over to the Recreation Committee. once each month, These funds are then turned over 'to the ~ Recreation Committee for banking in their own account, : - Regardless of whom a wage-earner may be employed by, if a person comes onto a payroll after February 1st, in any one year, that person would be assessed at a rate of $1.00 per month for the balance of that year, The membership year may be considered as being in two halves: from January lst to June 30th and July lst to December Sate As examples of two categories that will differ slightly from normal, a ruling has been made that would effect the School Staffs, They will be assessed only for the last 4 months in any one year and the first 6 in the following year. To cover temporary employment by LongLac Company or others, such as: Jackladder crews, Vacation Relief and Townsite crew, an assessment of -- $1.00 per month will be made while these people are employed here, e-O-o0- Res Page 3 NORTH CAMP RECREATION ROOM This room, located in the North Camp,-was recently. given a "face-lifting" by the Recreation Committee and now pro. vides fatilities for those who wish to play a game of "Snooker or Billiards, Table Tennis, Darts, Cribbage or Bridge. The room is open every evening from 6:30 until 10:30 and has an attendant on duty to see that everything is in a neat, tidy and shipshepe condition, It is brought to the attention of all adults holding Recreation Membership cards, that these facilities are there for your use, You do not have to live in the North Camp to be eligible,. any members , living in the Townsite, are extended an invitation to use this room at your pleasure, . 0-0-0 ESSAY CONTEST -- "WHAT TERRACE BAY MEANS TO ME" Plans were announced last night by the Kiwanis club citizenship committee to promote an essay contest in Terrace Bay . Schools entitled, "What Terrace Bay Mears 5 to Me", Separate contests will be conducted in each of the three schools and ti ~ee prizes will be awarded in each of the school contests. Winning essays will be published in the "News", - Essays in Public: School and Separat. School are restricted to Grades 6-7-8 but anyone from the continuation schoo: may enter. Essays are to be around 4wv words in length and to be eligible m=: be handed to your teacher by May 15th Do not put your name on your essay - e6ch teacher will assign it a number, Do not try to be a Winston Churchil' essays will be judged on Sincerity, clear ness and originality. Parents are asked to give ideas and advice but must not help compose the essay itself. So come on young people - think of th best things in your life and write. them down.
