INCA AGsigy 'The 1953-54 season was a banner year for Minor Hockey in Terrace Bay. With approximately 85 boys registered, the League consisted of 1 Midget, 2 Bantam, and 3 Pee Wee teams. The Midgets were winners of the L& L Trophy, emblematic of the championship of the Schreiber ~ Terrace Bay area for 1953- 1954... They were undefeated in regular league play and won the two out of three play-off game series in two easy victories, Their only loss of the season was to an All-Star sextet made up of players from Red Rock, Nipigon and South End Rangers of Port Arthur. Their coach, Harold Marsh, is deserving of great credit for the voluntary time and effort which he used to organize this team, into a winning combination. The Bantams were made up of two teams, the Bruins and Canadiens, who took part in an interlocking series at home under the able guidance of coaches, Dr. H. Campbell and T. Fedun,. . During this season they played a series of games with Nipigon and Schreiber. In a play-off series for the Mayfair Trophy for the Terrace Bay-Schreiber area championship an All-Star team chosen from the local teams lost to a Schreiber All-Star team,. This series was decided in four games and the local boys lost their final game by a 4-3 score. They took their loss graciously and showed fine sportmanship. This was no doubt due to the spirit which their coaches had instilled in them, The Pee Wee teams were the Maple.Leafs, Canadiens and * . Black Hawks. These teams engaged in a regular scheduled and a play-off series. The Black Hawks cinched the Championship in two straight wins in the play-off series. An All-Star chosen from these teams visited Schreiber to play and Schreiber gave us a return game, This was another Terrace Bay First as it is the first time a Pee Wee team played outside of Terrace Bay or had a visiting Pee Wee team play here. It is from this league that the large number of players received their initial training in the rudiments of the game and sportsmanship. This feature was ably handled by coaches, . Hector McLeod, Conley MacDonald, Ken McLeod, Jim McDonald, Tony Fedun and G, Robinson, The support of the public-spirited citizens of Terrace Bay who voluntarily loaned cars, time and effort to make this league successful is greatly appreciated. It is this spirit that will be reflected in youth and it is to be hoped it will be continued in future years with the better (Cont. on next col.)
