'/ BANYAMS LOOK LIKE COME BACK KIDS After dropping a 4-2 thriller and a 3-2 hard luck game to the Schreiber Al1- Stars the local All Stars came from behind for a 6 to 3 win on Wednesday in the third game. It was an uphill battle with Schreiber leading 3 to 1 in the middle of the second period, Then the roof seemed to start to cave in for Schreiber's young hopefuls. The local boys started to back check and carry the play to their opponents, Before the period ended they had rammed home two goals to tie it up. The third period was the signal for the 1953 champs to show their true form, Check- ing like leeches and laying down a passing attack they blinked the red light three times without a reply. All players are to be commended on their general improvement in this game, The orchids go to Jack Little, the stalwart goalie, who broke the heart of the Schreiber snipers with his spectacular SaVeS The fourth game of the play-offs will be held on Saturday at Schreiber Arena at 12:00 noone 0-0-0 ST. The Novelty races and the relay races were the only events cancelled due to the bad weather, A crowd of people were out to watch the proceedings, and of course there were (cont. on next col.) Page 12 KIWANIS CARNIVAL (cont.) hordes of kids, The first attraction was a broom ball game between two teams of Kiwanis members, It was a bang-up, cracked shin affair with the winner being much in dispute, - The kids part of the program follcwed and consumed the rest of the day. Doug Scheok, 2nd Scott Wade - Girls lst Mary Ellen Faust 2nd Neverly Phillips 7-9 - Boys lst Douglas McKay Girls lst Barbara Sweet 10-12 - Boys 1st Raymond Potvin ' Girls lst Rae Leclaire 13-15 - Boys lst Roger Leblanc Girls lst Sharon Marquis Backwards Skating Races ~ Boys 1st Ronnie Schock Girls lst - Rae Leclaire, Mrs, Jean MacDonald and Miss Fran Caddy acted as costume judges, To top off a very successful day a Pee Wee All Star game between Terrace Bay and Schreiber resulted in a win by a score of 2~1 for Terrace Bay, KIWANIS CLUB NEWS On Tuesday, March 16th, at the regular meeting mf the Kiwanis Club of Terrace Bay a letter addressed to tue Club was read by Vice-President, M.O.Nelson. This Etter was from the Unitarian Service Committee of Canada 48 Sparks Street, Ottawa 4, Ontario, and read partly as follows: "At present, we are appealing for $100,000 to feed the starving youngsters or © Korea, Under our "Barley for Korea" prograii 125,000 children will be given a daily bo of Canadian Barley gruel during the three hungriest months, Sixteen carloads of barley are now Korea--bound, but another eich? must be shipped if we are to fulfil our pledge, Unfortunately,we are still tragic ally short of $25,000 to purchase the re. maining barley, Unless it is raised im- ediately, many children in Korea will starvc to death before spring", The Terrace Bay Kiwanis Club members agreed to personally donate money for this great cause and also to match this collection from the Club's Welfare fund. Other interested groups in Terrace Bay may also wish to contribute to this cause,
