' Volume 3 No. 35 SCHOOL REGISTRATION POSTPONED Due to two cases of Poliomyelitis being reported in Terrace Bay during the last two weeks, it has been considered advisable by the Medical Officer of Health to postpone school registration until Monday, September Ath. Along with this announcement comes a request to the parents to do their utmost to keep the children away from drowds as well as observing all of the other necessary precautions required to prevent further spread of this disease, In this respect, it has been noted that the children are refraining from attending the movie matinees, but it is reported that quite a few are attending the evening shows instead. Parents are requested to discourage the children from attending. One other item that is worthy of consideration .by the parents, is that of not taking the children with them on vacations into places where the disease is prevalent. However, it is considered safe for the adults themselves to travel, 0-0-0 SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIES CANCELLED Duc to the fact that the finishing materials for the Auditorium floor have not yet arrived, it has been decided to curtail any further activity in the Auditorium until the dressing of the floor has been completed, In this way we shall be able to preserve the excellent appearance that the floor now has and prepare it for the long, tough winter season ahead, 0-0-0 LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY September 3, 1953. BOWLING ALLEYS TO OPEN TUESDAY For the benefit of those who wish to get in a little pre-season practise, and for those who just bowl occasionally, the Bowling "lleys in the South Camp will open to the public on evenings only, for the time being at least. The alleys have been given a face lifting and are in A-1L shape for this coming season. The President of the Bowling Associ- ation has advised that voting ballotts will be mailed to all registered bowlers from last year. In this way an attempt will be made to elect a slate of officers rather than by doing so at a sparsely attended annual meeting. PIN SETTERS REQUIRED Any young fellows who desire to pick up some extra spending money, will have the opportunity to do so by setting pins over at the bowling alleys. If you are interested, please get in touch with Leon Checkryn at your earliest convenience, o-0-0 LAST DAY AT SWIM POOL MONDAY Now that school re-opening is drawing near and the summer scason is drawing to a close, the last official day that the Swimming Pool will be open, will be Monday, Labour Day, September 7th, Starting on Tuesday morning the work crew will start putting all of the bits and pieces away for another year, Under the guidance of Lifeguard- Instructor Ken Chittick and assistant Wes Heald, we have enjoyed a most pleasant and successful season, At the time of (Cont. on Page 3)
