( CURLING NEWS Wellings Wins Bradings Not content with his Marathon achieve- ment and the right to represent this District in the N,W.0, Curling playoffs, Jack, along with Third "Jock" MacCall, Second "Des" Evans-Smith and Lead Bill Sadowick coasted to a thrilling win over Harry Byers' rink of Harold Marsh, Len Swirhun and Johnny Louk in the final game for the Bradings Trophy. Final score, 10-8, and that was it in a nut- Shell. Congratulations to the victors, and to the vanquished ~ "better luck next time", On the Consolation side Bert Lohr skinp- ed his rink of Harry Smith, Pete Shrier and Ken Hutchinson to a breath-taking win over Rune "Old Reliable" Ostling and his staff of three. Bert trailed, by one or two points, most of the way and in the 12th and final end tied it up. Onthe sawoff "13th* he laid in for two and the game, ill in all if the "Bradings" playoffs are a criterion of coming playoffs then you would be well advised to take in the finals of events coming up. Imperial Bank Trophy: With an additional twelve games run off Since last week we've noticed a trend to more consistent curling (including wins and losses) and on top of the heap we find flex MacDonald leading the parade with 4 wins and one loss to his credit. However, approxim- ately 6 skips are breathins right down his neck with 3 wins and a loss and come this time next week a still more definite trend should be established, slex trimmed "Pop" Haughn's rink but Nels Allen stopped him on Tuesday night, Then Knauff bowed to Ross but came back and took Garvin into camp. Dodge started the week by trimming Ostling and continued with a neat win over Lohr. Harris handed Ross a loss (ryhmes too), Farrow dic the same to Haughn and Pineault caught McColl on an off night. Jim MacDonald was responsible for Byers! first defeat and in games last night Garvin won over Haughn while Wellings took care of Craig. Marathon Invitational Bonspiel "Last but not least" would certainly apply to Ab Farrow and his rink of Jim Clancy (3rd), Ned West (2nd) and Jim Bradley (lead), for at the very last minute {b round- ed up his rink and went down to participate in Marathon's "Invite" Bonspiel - /ND TOOK 2ND PRIZE in the second event, For their troubles, the boys were presented with Ronson Table Lighters. This event is restricted to participating rinks from Kapuskasing, Longlac and Terrace Bay - in other words a "company" affair - to be run off at Longlac being the central point. Last year it was: won by Longlac. any curler may enter a rink, but do it now by placing your name, and rink, on the letter of invitation posted on the Curling Club Bulletin Board.
