FISH AND GiME MEETING The regular monthly meeting of the Terrace Bay Fish and Game Club will be held Monday, November 26th at 7:30 PM in the Recreation Hall, Guest speaker will be Mr. T. Seppala of the, Rossport Fish and Game Club, An invitation is extended to all ladies of the town to attend this meeting with the hopes that they may wish to belong to this Club, Moving Pictures will be shown be- fore the meeting gets underway. O-o -0 MORE LIMERICK CONTEST NEWS Last week, a brief note in the "News" drew attention to the fact that a limerick contest, designed to extend our accident prevention efforts beyond the mill would get underway shortly. 'Present plans cell for running a limerick contest each month for the next six months commencing December lst. Rules which will govern the contest are as follows: 1, All you heve to do is £411 in the last line of a limerick. Everyone working for LongLac Pulp and Paper Co, Ltd, their immediate families and all other Terrace Bay residents are eligible to enter, The limerick contest for any given month ends on the last day of each calendar month, -- 4S the limericks have been used previ-~ ously by the National Safety Council, prize winning lines announced in any Netionel Safety Council publication will not be considered in this Terrace Bay Re 3. O-o-0 TERRACE BAY COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION NEWS We have drifted slightly from our ques- tions and answers in the last couple of - articles but as it was information that we ° felt should be made known to the general public, we will now continue on with the questions and answers, Question: "How does a Credit Union differ from a bank?" Answer: It promotes thrift by requiring its members to save small amounts at: regular intervals, This the bank cannot do. & credit union is controlled by its members; each member has only one vote no matter how much money he has. A credit union has no elaborate offices or furniture, no high peid officials, Loans can be made only to mem- bers of the credit union, Question: "Does a Credit Union need 2 license to operate?" Answer: All Ontario Credit Unions are re- quired to be chartered by the Provincial Government, They operate under the juris- diction of the Minister of Agriculture, Charters are granted on the recommendations of the Supervisor of Credit Unions, One point that I have neglected to bring out and that is that the Local Credit Union is a Community Credit Union, therefore any resident of Terrace Bay or within a radius of five miles of Terrace Bay or is an em- ployee of LongLac Pulp and Paper C.
