BOWLING NEWS Ladies League The annual wind-up of the Ladies Bowl- ing League will be held in the form of a dinner gathering at Hotel Terrace on Friday, June 1st at 6:30 in the evening, Members of this group are requested to obtain their invitations, which are available at no charge from their captains, The Palm Dairies Trophy will be present- ed to Mrs, Elsie Ostling and her Misfits, winners of this League's 1950-51 season, Hlsie and her girls were :lso winners of this trophy in the previous season, Distri- bution of other awards will follow the dinner. Mrs, Betty Jessop, with the team capt- eins, is attending to the arrangements of this banquet. Men's League Arrangements are all complete to honour Bill Borsum's Overheads, THE CHAMPS of the 1950-51 season in the Men's Bowling League. Al Lindskoog, chairmen of the league, and his committce are sparing no effort to renlly crown the winners, Jim Denny, representing Dominion Cater- ing, will present this Trophy and the ind- ividual trophies to the lucky Overheads, Anchor-Men Wig will receive the Trophy in the absence of Captain Bill Borsum, This stag will take place in the Recr- cation Hall on Thursday, June 7th, commenc- ing at 7 oteclock, A grand feed to be prep- ared by Maxie's Chef Johnny Orr, will be served, followed by the presentation of trophies, monics and entertainment, Admission will be by ticket only, which may be obtained through your captains any time after Monday, June 4th, This wind-up is open only to members of the Men's 5 Pin Bowling League. 0-0-0 i Pes ON THE SPOT - EVERYTIME YOU TAKE A CHANCE . Page 4 STEVIES OUST RICKARDS FOR 10 PIN TITLE Last Monday evening the 10 pin bowling league was brought to a successful conclusion when Stevies topped Rickards in a tight match 3466 to 3363 to win the 10 pin bowling league championship, . It was a hard fought battle all the way with Stevies treiling until the 3rd game when Leon "01d Reliable" Checkryn came through with a mighty 230 geme and Jack "Ice Water for Blood" Johnston knocked off a 232 game to put Stevies in the lead, and after that they were never headed, High man for the night for Stevies was Johnston with 196 average 2nd Checkryn wes second with a 187 average. High man for Rickards wes Burella with a 186 average, Stevies fielded Checkryn, Haviland, Keeley, Johnston, Laporte, Desrosiers and Captain Steve Valigrodsky while Rickards countered with Schock, Chopty, Madden, Burelln, Pluta, and Captain Bob Rickard. The 10 pin league was newly formed this year, but has drawn an enthusiatic following and plans for next year are really blossoming. The league was operated ona handicap basis with 4 teams competing; the two aforementioned, Solly's, captained by Howard Solly and Borsum's, captained by Bill Borsum, Stevies won the lst series, edging out Borsum's by 3 games and Rickards won the last series by edging both Borsum's and Solly's by 2 games, Incidentally, Borsum's tied with Rickards for most games won during the year, but couldn't seem to sneak into the finals, During the year the Terrace Bay 10 pin All Stars consisting of the high average bowlers from 211 teams played 4 matches with Lakehead bowlers and although winning only one match, the competition was close enough in all the matches to promise many more interesting games in the future, During the year the lst Annual Terrace Bay Invitation 10 Pin Tourney was held with 4 teams competing for the handsome trophy. This event will be an annual affair from now on for § picked tocams, The executive for the year wes Bill Borsum, President, Howard Solly, Vice- President, and Bob Rickard, Secretary- Treasurer, The Annual Wind-up will be held June lst in building T-6, All ten pin bowlers who competed in the league are welcome. 0-0-0 TENNIS CLUB It is hoped to complete the laying of tapes, nets and the enclosure this weck, Effective Monday, June 4th, the courts will be available to members only.
