A large portion of this figure, approximately one half of a million dollars, will be borne by | the Longlac Pulp and Paper Co, Ltd., and the balance will be an Improvement District expenditure. : Included in this vast investment by Longlac Pulp and Paper Co, is the constr- uction of 35 new houses to be built West of the Hotel, These houses are expected to be ready for occupancy by Christmas of this year. Construction of the new Hospital has commenced and already the footings are ready for the pouring of concrete, Stead and Lindstrom of Fort William are the con- tractors for this project, It is expected that landscaping of some of the house lots will start shortly and the aim for this year is to complete, if possible, the lawns | for those houses built in 1946. Another item that is presently receiving attention, is the completion of the upstairs portions of the four-roomed houses, Present appro- priations call for the completion of 11 such! houses. Improvements will also be made to the Ball Diamond in the South Camp and it is anticipated that a new ball field will be built on the present school playground, It is hoped that this latter item will be ready for use by the end of June, Approvel | has also been recently received for the completing of the Ladies and Gentlemen's Beverage Rooms in the Hotel, i On the Improvement District side of the ledger, we hxve the opening up of a !
