it % x Me Sh ie SE LE PaO a ii Volume 6, No, 15 YOUTH ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE ORGANIZED Last week, meetings were held to form a committee to organize, co-ordi- nate and direct activities for the youth of the townsite, The need for this com- mittee has been apparent for quite some time. It will provide instruction and supervision for organized major group activities for all youths in the town- site both in public and high school, with the exception of such groups as the Cubs and Scouts and will endeavour to co-ordinate all activities to eliminate any overlapping. At the first meeting, general plans were discussed and the following executive was elected, Joe Adamo, Chairman and de- legate to the Recreation Committee; Al Stevens, Secretary Treasurer; Joe Wig, Ed Pineault and Al Lindskoog, Board Mem-~ bers. At a later meeting the executive agreed to concentrate on the following activities to start with and appointed the following chairmen, Boys Athletics: Chairman «= Jim Cumming, Assistants - Joe Adamo and Ed, Pineault. This group will organize and promote base- ball, hockey, basketball, etc,, for boys in all age groups. Public School Girls: Chairman to be appointed. This group will organize and supervise a public school girls club along the lines of brownies, girl guides or something Similar. High School Girls: Chairman Doris Lind- skoog. This group will organize a high school girls club along the lines of a Y.W.C.4. or something similar, Mixed Swimming: Chairman Jack Wade. This group will promote swimming activi- ties for all age groups, Dancing: Chairman Ann Williscroft,. This eroup will teach dancing for all ages. (cont. on Page 3) LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY April 12, 1951 PULP DEPT, SAFETY EARNINGS USED Monies earned by the four (4) sections in the Pulp Department which had been allow- ed to accumulate were used up in a recent draw which sent four prizes to each section. The prizes, which consisted of Shakespeare & Whitehall casting rods, Parker "51" pen and pencil sets, Ronson lighters, Shakespeare reels, etc., were won by the following:= Machine Room R, Weaver, P. Pluta, R. Regis and J. Corrigan. Digesters, Brown Stock and Screens: J, Zigman, L. Cavanaugh, D. Gillis and V, Welsh, Caustic, Kiln and Evaps.: J. Butler, H. Fontaine, E, Storvold and H, Holland. Bleachery: W.S, Fisher, W. Fisher, L. Crockford, Db. Whitley and W. Day. o~-0-0 DOG- BY-LAW IS AMENDED Following a representation of citizens, the By-Law respecting dogs has been amended to permit dogs to run at large between the hours of 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. daily only. At all other times they must be tied up or on a leash accompanied by the owner or other competant person, To avoid penalties, these regulations should be observed, also all dog owners who do not have tags for their dogs should ob- tain same without delay.
