Then a hot fire with open draught will cause the chimnsy to burn. This kind of a fire burns with great heat, driving smoke through any erack in the mortar, afterwards causing the chimney to erack and heating the plaster to the point of combustion from top to bottom of the house. « Clecn chimney never burns, but the chimney so described is hard to clean as the pitch and tar is coated on and will not respond to ordinary cleaning tools.
