Page 4 FATHER J.ND SON BANQUET HUGE SUCCESS On Saturday, .ipril 22nd in the Legion Hell, a Father and Son Banquet was held by the Scout Committee for the Cubs and Scouts and their Fathers, The catering was handled by the Ladies! Auxiliary of the Legion and a most delicious meal was enjoyed by all, Chairman Herman Roberts ex~ tended a warm welcome to the Fathers and stated that he hoped that this would be the first of many ventures that would bring Father and Son together out in public as well as in the home, Though the evening was originally planned as a Cub and Scout affair, it was decided later that this would be an excellent opportunity to fete the Pee Wee Hockey players after their first season's play, Mr. Bob Young of the Woodroom was then introduced and presented his trophy to Roger Leblanc, captain of Les Canadiens, who are the 1949-50 champions, In addition to holding the trophy for a year, each boy on the team received a group picture of the team and a crest to wear proudly on a windbreaker, The members of the other two teams each received a group picture of their team, which no doubt would be hung in a prominent spot at home, The Programme then switched back to the Cubs again and lst Stars were presented by Don Boudreau to Allan Wood, Colin Craig, Dennis Scowen and Tom Stevens. 2nd Sters were presented by Gord, Rowlandson to Jim Erickson, Stan Kowalik and Larry Wilson. .s winner of a contest for the best .\11 Round Scout that has been going on since the first of the year, Billy Marsh was presented with a handsome set of camping utensils by Gord. Rowlandson, Competition had been keen all the way on this contest, but Billy had won out just by a whisker, 'To round out the evening's programme, the gathering were then treated to some' movies. One film featured the progress made by the world in travel and communicetion, Then came a comedy featuring Abbott and Costello. Last but not least was a film taken at the Kiwanis Carnival that featured the Broom Ball game end a Pee Wee Hockey game, all in Technicolour, The evening closed with the group singing God Save the King accompanied by Ray Husband at the piano, The Scout Committee would like to remind the parents of the dates set for Summer ° Camps, Scouts - July end - 9th and Cubs - July 9th = 13th, They would also like to empha- size the fact that the Summer Camps will definitely not be held at Slate Islands, o= 0-0 LONGLAC CENTURY CLUB (Membership restricted to units having not less than 100 safe days without an on-duty disabling lost-time accident.)
