'Page 4 HIGH SCHOOL CURLERS Under the guidance and watchful eyes of those two ardent members of the Curling Club, Jack Wellings and Gordon Dodge, a group of the* High School students along with a couple of other members of Teen Town, received their first of a series of instructional sessions on the art of "Soopinter up" at the Curling Rink, This first turn-out was very gratifying, but it is hoped that before too long there will be enough young enthusiasts come out, in order that four rinks can be made'up and a little competition be put into play. ; o-0=0 CALLING ALL SCOTSMEN??? It is rumored that Dave McDonald was seen making a quick trip home with the Safety Slogan Sign Board on his shoulders, whilst being pursued by Fred Soughton. They feel that the old fashioned type of travel will at least ensure them of return trips from the Lakehead??? 0-0-0 PUBLIC SCHOOL BOWLERS Last Saturday morning, the alleys were the scene of great enthus- iasm and excitement. The children of three public school grades" had the use of the alleys from 10:00 a.m. till noon for a session of supervised bowling, This coming Saturday the pupils of the next three lower grades will have their day and from then on these two groups will alternate in using the alleys on Saturday mornings. o-0-0 TERRACE BAY RIFLE CLUB On Sunday afternoon, January 15th, a short business meeting was held after the regular session of target shooting. A financial report was presented with one of the features of this report being the news that the Club has now paid for four Target Rifles which had been purchased for the use of the members and visitors. Owing to the resignation of Mrs. Dot Embree from the position of Secretary-Treas- urer, an election was held and W, M, Vanatter was appointed to the position. A vote of thanks was extended to Mrs, Embree for her efforts on behalf of the Club and especially for her attention to the many details arising throughout the recent organization period of the Club. A social committee consisting of Ann Stachiw, Doris MacKay, Ethel Boyd and Ken MacKay was also elected as a further step in extending the range of Club activities. Club activities were thoroughly discussed during this meeting and plans finalized in connection with a Club Team Shoot which includes practically all members. Captains of the teams are to bet Team i/1 - Ken MacKay; Team #2 - Gordon Pages Team #3 - Dick Lumbers; Toam #4 - Jim McDonalds Team #5 = "Mac" Vanatter; Team i/6 - P, Boudreau, This team com- petition gets underway this week, . ' Another activity currently being held is a Spoon Shoot, Each week a suitably en- graved silver spoon will be presented to the member having the high score on three targets shot during the week, The winner of the first week's round was Dick Lumbers with a perfect score of 300 with Stan Hodgkiss as runner-up, A limit of 2 spoons to each member keeps the competition keen, Plans for a Chicken Shoot to be held January 29th are being completed and we are looking forward to some keen competition, especially with our friends from Schreiber, Visitors and prospective members are always welcome at the Range which is situated in the South Camp directly opposite the Imperial Bank, Ammunition may be purchased and the Club rifles are available for use by anyone over 16 years of age.
