Groceteria and Hotel Desk. o-0=0 SCHOOL STAFF IN LIMELIGHT It is of special intcrest to local residents that Mr. Clarence Smith, School Principal, will journey to London, Ontario on October 22nd to attend the Fall Convocation of Western University to reccive a degree in Arts, Mr. Smith has spent ea good few summers attending summer school as well as studying during the winter in addition to his teaching duties, in order to carn his degree. The "News" joins Clarence's many friends in offering congratulations. It is also worthy of note that Miss Noonan has received her First Certificate in music teaching this summer. Having attended a summer course in Toronto under the auspices of the Department of Education. Miss Woloshyn spent her summer visiting the United Kingdom and the Continent. Among countries visited by Miss Woloshyn were England, France and the Netherlands, During this past week, Miss Woloshyn attended a meeting of the Women's Institute and related some of her very interesting experiences to the members. o~-0=0 CANADIAN LEGION NEWS On Friday evening, September 30th, Terrace Bay Branch #223 of the Canadian Legion held a social evening in the Legion Hall to dedi- cate their charter, Visitors present included Sid Wilson, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial Command who unveiled the chartcr, Fred Thomas, District Representative and Mrs. Mabel Morgan gave a very informative talk on the formation of a Branch of the Ladies Auxiliary. 411 eligible women are asked to watch next week!s issue of the Terrace Bay News for © the date of a mecting to be held for the purpose of forming our own Branch of the Auxiliary. After the brief ceremonies a social evening was held and the members of the Enter-= tainment Committee are to be congratulated on the work they did to make the evening a suc- CCSS. o~O0-0 TERRACE BAY CREDIT UNION ORGANIZED The first general meeting of the Terrace Bay Credit Union was held in the Community Hall, Friday, Sept. 25rd at 7:50 p.m. Mr. H. Goodfellow who was chairman of the committee established by the local union to organize a Credit Union, opened the meeting and called on Mr. Allan Grant, Director of the Ontario Credit Union League to be chairman of the mecting. After a discussion on the by-laws, set up by a special committee, they were passed by the mecting. ; The next item on the agenda was the joining of the Ontario Credit Union League and the advantages thereof, It was moved and duly seconded that the Terrace Bay Community Credit Union join the Ontario Credit Union League. The following were the elected officers for the Terrace Bay Community Credit Union for the coming year: Board of Directors: H. Goodfellow = President; Fairfield Vanier - Vice-President; Angus Bryans - Secretary, Treasurer-Manager; Jimmy Stewart, R. Ostling, Lloyd Boudreau and Cliff Burnell.
