The writer is nameless but he speeks for many fathers beside himself.) Dear Friends: My daughter, Mary, started to school this morning, As she walked off with the boy fricnd from across the street, a third-grader, she seemed so tiny and frail to be start ing the long journey to education, She looked quite cute the way her mother had her dressed in a little outfit she had been saving for this occasion, these many months. So eager was she for this venture that she could hardly take time to kiss me goodbye. Tonight at the dinner table she was bursting with the nows of the day. She's asleep now, As I tucked the covers around her she reached out and drew her rag doll, "Zinny'"', to her, I watched as a wistful smile played acroas her face and her red curls formed a flam- ing halo around her head, Yes, she's safe in her bed tonight and my constant praycr is that she will return safcly each night. 4 ; Will you help me, Mr, Motorist? - Please} You ean, if you will keep your eye out for her and drive just a wee bit slower and be as careful as you can, I can't be with her all the time, but I have talked to her about the dangers in crossing the street. I have asked her not to play in the strects. | She obeys me as well as can be expected of a tyke her sige and age, but she's as agile as a chipmunk and when she gets excited in her play she darts thither and yon, I love her, and for all the world I want her to grow up to be a fine, strong, healthy. Qanadian girl, You will then, won't you, be on the lookout for her - yes, and for all the hundreds of other little Canadian citizens-in-the-making?
