TEGION CLUB ROOM OPENING Plans are well under way for a social evening to be held on the evening of May 24th to mark the opening of the new Club Rooms of the Terrace Bay Branch #223 of the Canadian Legion, All Legion . members are requested to pick up tickets as soon as possible, These may be obtained from Betty Cunningham, First Aid Roomy Gordon Dodge, Administration offices Ed Brady, Operating Personnel Office,(main floor building 12 in the mill); or any member of the committee. , The local branch of the Canadian Legion is also anxious to acquire used furniture for their new hall, and any persons having suitable furniture which they would be willing to donate, please call Dr, J, 0, Shaunessy, Dial e5, and the furniture will be picked up on Saturday afternoon, May 21st. ; ae eh ns CANADIAN, 0-0-0 es SUMMER SPORTS ACTIVITIES TENNIS - The courts of the Terrace Bay Tennis Club will be officially Open for play on Saturday, May 16. All those interested are requested to purchase memberships as soon as possible in order to take full advantage of the playing season, In order to facilitate this and the purchase of eqiipment, a general meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, at 8 p m,, in the Community Hall, at which several Sporting Goods Catalogues will be on hand, from which members may purchase equipment at a Club discount. The Executive of the Club also requests that any person using the courts wear rubber soled, heelless shoes, as any other type will demage the clay surface, SOFTBALL The Softball League will consist of six teams, as follows: Wood Preparation; Pulp Conversion; Steam and Techni¢éal; Structural, Maintenance and Services; Community Services (town) ; Salaried (staff). The first series will consist of 10 games with the second of 5 games, and decision to be made later on subsequent series, The League will officially commence Sunday, May 15th, at 2:00 in the afternoon, Je (Curly) Hale will represent the Softball League on the Advisory Board of the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee. M. D. Campbell, J. Holancin and P. E, Mazza were appointed on the Schedule Committee, while W. C. Borsum and J, Cavanaugh form the Field Committee, Curly Hale was appointed umpire-in-chief with Nello Burella and B, McDonald on the committee, Those with experience in umpiring as well as those willing to lénd a hand to this depart- ment are requested to contact Curly at the earliest opportunity, Will anyone interested in compiling softball statistics such as batting averages, etc., please contact any member of the Executive. On Friday evening a practice will be held with the Community Services Team versus Steam and Technical.
