Shaunessy; 1st Vice-President - E. J. Brady; 2nd Vice-President - Miss C. licKeen; Secretary- Miss J, McCord; Treasurer - Frank Madden. The following members of the liembership Committee will be contacting all veterans in a few days: Chairman - BE, J. Brady; Members - Miss BE. Cunningham, J. Clancy, T. Olson, W. Ogden, W. Baillie, J, Jeanneret, J. Holancin and T. Brown. 'On Monday, March 14th, at 7:45 psm., another meeting will be held in the Community Hall, We hope at this time to have Mr. Alex Morgan, Vice-President of the Provincial Cormand as guest speaker, After March 14th, meetings will be held at 7:45 p.m, on the ©nd and 4th Mondays of every month, The attendance at our first meeting was very j encouraging. Keep up the good work and the Terrace Bay Branch is sure to be a success, 0-0-0 COMMUNITY RECREATION PROGRAM PLANS DEVELOPING The Provisional Committee which was established at a general meeting on Thursday evening, February 24th, to study plans for a Community Recreation Program met last Friday evening, March 4th, in the Community Hall. At this meeting C, E, "Monty" Paget was elected Chairman, and lirs, R, M. Schneble was elected Secretary. A considerable amount of time was spent discussing an outline for a Constitution and a Constitution Committee consisting of Jack Wellings, Ruth Bangart, Angus Bryans and Ralph Shemanski was established, This Committee mot Tuesday evening, March 8th, and began to draft the actual Constitution, which will probably be completed at a second meeting of the Constitution Comittee scheduled for Monday evening, March 14th, Present plans call for a second meeting of the Provisional Committee on Miarch 15th for the purpose of making a study of the Constitution as drafted by the Constitution Committee, A%& thet time the Provisional Committee will then decide the date on which the next general meeting will be held, This date has tentatively been set for Thursday, March e4th, Provisional Committee manbers are hopeful that a large representation from residents of the community will attend the general meeting, at which the Constitution will be submitted for ratification and further plans laid for the expansion of Terrace Bay's recreation program, o-O0-0 TERRACE BAY SCHOOL OFFICIALLY OPENE™ In use since the school term commenced last fall, Terrace Bay's modern seven room school was officially opened last Thursday evening by Dr. C. E. Stothers, Inspector of Special Schools and Classes, Department of Education, Toronto, During his remarks, Dr, Stothers emphasized the advantages to both pupils end teachers of a modern school with the latest improvements in lighting and design, and commended Clarence Smith, the principal, and his staff, for the good work which was so evident in the classroom displays. Dr, Stothers was introduced by the Inspector of Public Schools for the District, W. J, Judd of Port Arthur, who also spoke briefly. Chairman of the proceedings was H. C. Laundy, Terrace Bay School Board Chairman. Following the brief ceremony, the large number of parents and residents of the cormmunity who were present visited the classroomsand saw evidence of the work being accomplished by pupils of all grades.
