The contest shall run for a three month period from March 1, 1949 until 8:00 a.m, on the morning of June 1, 1949. 2, The winner of the contest shall be the unit having the lowest frequency rate (the number of reportable on duty lost-time accidents per one million man hours worked). 3, A reportable on duty lost-time accident shall be determined on a basis of National Safety Council standards» 4, For the purpose of the contest, all employees of the LongLac Pulp and Paper Company shall be divided into five units as follows: Unit 1 - Pulp Dept, and Hotel Unit 2 - Wood Hndling and General Office Unit 3 = Steam, Construction and Hospital Unit 4 - Maintenance and Miscellaneous Office Unit 5 - Services, Technical and Personnel Office 5, Accidents occuring to employees on loan to another department shall be charged to the department for which the employee is working at the time, 6, The Contest Committee shall consist of two members of the Terrace Bay Accident Prevention ' Committee and the Chairman of each Department Safety Committee, - 7, Any dispute may be referred to a committee consisting of the Mill Manager, Employee Services Supervisor and the Doctor in charge of the case and the decision of this committee will be final. 8. Prize money of $150.00 will go to the winning unit at the close of the contest with the type of prize to be determined by the Safety Committee of the winning unit (suggestions include a banquet, merchandise to be bought wholesale, etc.) Cash will not be distributed In the event of a tie awards shall be equal, 0-0-0 CURLING CLUB NEWS As we go to press, the final games are being played in the second curling draw and based on play throughout the season, four teams will emerge from each of the three groups and the twelve teams will play-off for the Club Championship, with the winning team taking the Hudson's Bay Trophy and the Imperial Bank Trophy going to the runner-up. All games which have not been played during the present draw must be played and the results handed to Gordon Dodge, the Club Secretary, by 6:00 p.sm. on Saturday, March Sth, after which no credit will be allowed for any unplayed games, It is expected that some games for the Club Championship will get underway as early as next Sunday. It has now been decided that all rinks not eligible for play in the Club Championship Draw will be grouped in a Consolation Draw with prizes for the two leading rinks, An Open Competition is also planned and any skip may enter the rink of his choice in this draw. No entry fee will be charged for members of the Terrace Bay Curling Club while all others will be charged at the rate of #1,00 per person. Deadline for entries in the Open Competition is Saturday, March 5th. Winning rinks will receive excellent prizes.
