As announced in this paper last week, the meeting is being called for the purpose of organizing The Terrace Bay Recreation Association, and at the meeting it is hoped that a Steering Committee, Executive, - or Board of Directors will be elected, Plans are not finalized as yet as to the exact function which this organization should perform and residents of the community are urged to consider the matter carefully and come prepared to discuss their ideas, Only in this manner will a Recreation Association emerge which will express the wishes of the people for whom the organization is to function. 0-0-0 LEGION BRANCH PROPOSED FOR TERRACE BAY There has been a considerable amount of discussion lately regarding the establishment of a Branch of the Canadian Legion at Terrace Bay, and for the purpose of discussing this matter a meeting will be held in the Community Hall (across from the Post Office) on Tuesday evening March lst at 7:30 p.m. All veterans (1914-18 and 1939-45), Army, Navy, Airforce and Merchant Marine are cordially invited to attend this meeting, 0-0-0 CURLING CLUB NEWS At the end of the present draw twelve rinks will play off for the Club Championship with the Hudson's Bay Trophy going to the winning rink and the runner-up taking the Imperial Bank Trophy. Four rinks from each group in the present draw will play for the Championship based on total wins for the entire season's pley. The Curling Club is expecting a third trophy which will be played for in Open Gompetition at the close of the Club Championship games. Any skip wishing to enter the Open Competition must submit the names of a rink of his own choosing to the Secretary, Gordon Dodge, on or before March lst, An entrance fee of 34,00 ner rink must accompany the written application. In addition to the cup, first and second prizes will be present ed to the two winning rinks. 0-0-0 TERRACE BAY NOW HOLDS CHAPPLE TROPHY Last Saturday afternoon by a combined score of 24 = 20, two Terrace Bay rinks visited and defeated two Marathon rinks in a competition for temporary possession of the Chapple Challenge Txophy which can be competed for on a challenge basis' by Schreiber, Terrace Bay or Marathon, Much of the credit for the win goes to skip Mel Bamforth who with Steve Valigrodski, Joe Campbell and Al Crockford downed their opposition 15 - 8, Jack Wellings rink which included Alf iicBride, Fred Soughton and Monty Paget came out on the short end of 8 12 - 9 score but the combined scores of both games gave the local rinks the victory, At the same time a Terrace Bay rink skipped by Peggy 'Jellings won a decisive victory over a Marathon rink skipped by Mrs, Stan McDougall. Other players on Peggy's rink were Irene Edmond, Marg Simmer and Grace Noer, BOX SOCIAL AND DANCE (Sponsored by St. Martin's Guild) Friday, February 25th 10 p»m, - & alle in Recreation Hall. Gayly decorated boxes with dainty lunches will be auctioned at midnight.
