Page 5 SNOW REMOVAL FROM DRIVEWAYS The matter of snow removal from driveways to facilitate coal delivery to townsite houses has been a matter of concern to many who have been faced with the chore of shovelling tons of snow. In order to ease the situation the Company has developed a bulldozer service which will be available under certain conditions at a nominal charge. Whenever the bulldozer is in the Townsite area, and providing that the work load will permit it, driveways will be bulldozed for $1.00, If a special trip to the Townsite is necessary in order to do the job, the rate charged will of necessity be higher ($9.00 per hour) and time will be charged from the time the bulldozer leaves to do the job until it returns. 411 requests for bulldozer service should be directed to Dave McDonald at Local 54, 0-0-0 MILL SAFETY RULES Safety rules are as necessary in an industrial organization as game rules are in competitive sports. Rules are needed so that each employee can work in the same standard way as his fellow workers--so that each employee can work as a part of the team with all the other employees. The purpose of rules is not to limit anyone's ri+hts, but to define and protect each worker from other workers, By neglecting safety rules, one tian may easily endanger another man, No worker can be allowed to do anything which in any way interferes with the rights or privileses of other workers, If rules are not reasonable and uniformly enforced for all employees, they soon become ineffective. If a rule is a good one, it is good for everyone. 0-0-0 TERRACE BAY RECREATION ASSOCIATION PROPOSED To date at Terrace Bay, recreational activities have been developed by means of organizing specific Clubs or Associations whose responsibility it has been to govern the affairs of the activity with which the organization has been principally concerned. In every instance, each Club or Association has been developed by democratic processes on a community basis and the results achieved have been reasonably satisfactory. One aspect of a recreation program which is highly desirable. in a community such as ours is an overall committee which can assume responsibility for co-ordinating activities already developed, and assisting in the development and expansion of other activities, Such a committee should not disturb the autonomy of any organized' group, but rather function in such a manner as to encourage each group to run its own affairs, for only in this manner will leadership emerge which can carry the responsibility for the direction of a wide variety of activities, With the development of an overall committee in mind, the question of a Terrace Bay Recreation Association is raised and in all probability a Board of Directors or Executive of a Recreation Association would be the logical group to co-ordinate all near matters, On Thursday, Fébs..24th at 8:00 p.m, for the purpose dealing with the Cppaniad i of the Terrace Bay Recreation Association, a meeting will be held in the Recreation Hall; A special program is being arranged for the occasion and at the meeting a Steering Committee, Executive or Board of Directors will be elected, In the meantime, residents of the community are urged to carefully consider the importance of this development and come to the meeting prepared to elect a committee which will be of real service to the community. 0-0-0 ACACIA CLUB LADIES'NIGHT PLANNED FOR FEBRUARY 19TH The Acacia Club of Terrace Bay will hold its first Ladies!
