Page 2 -ST MARTIN'S LADIES! GUILD SOCIAL EVENING . An enjoyable evening was spent by these who attended the social evening put on by St, Martin's .__ Ladies! Guild.for members and guests on the evening of November 25th in the Recreation Hall. Mrs. E. Cavanaugh was the convener and was ably assisted by members of the Executive. A few words of appreciation were given by Mrs. R. Schneble to the members for their cooperation in the past year and to all those outside the organization who helped in past projects. A special note of thanks was made to Mr, Martin of Hudson's Bay Co. for contributions and concessions made to the group. Mrs. Schneble also announced that there would be no further meetings until the New Year. Prizes were given to high and low scores for men and women. Refreshments were served to end a very delightful evening. 0-0-0 CURLING CLUB NEWS T- date 108 applications have. been received for '48 - '49 season membership in the Terrace Bay Curling Club. At an Executive mseting of the Club held recently, it was decided that rinks for a Novelty Bonspiel would be drawn on December 6th, by which time yearly fees which are now due should be paid. No names will be drawn for rinks until fees are paid. Payment of fees may be made to Harold Marsh at the Warehouse; Jack Wellings, South Camp; Alec MacDonald in the Mill; or Bill Lowe in the Personnel Office. It is also reported by the Executive that Blind Craft curling brooms may now be purchased at the, Hudson's Bay store. Special consideration is being given to the development of rinks which will involve shift workers, and every effort will be made to schedule the games for such rinks at times which will be suitable, If the weather continues cold, it is planned to start flooding the Curling Rink later "this week, Although no prediction is being made as to when ice will be actually available, eurling enthusiasts ere ready to get going at any time and they hope it will be soon, Curling facilities at Terrace Bay consist of a two sheet indoor rink which was construct- ed just a year ago, for the most part by volunteer labour, 0-0-0 NAME-THE-TEAM CONTEST RESULTS As a result of the "Name-theeTeam Contest", sponsored by the Hockey Association, the Terrace Bay entry in the North Shore Hockey League will be known as "Terrace Bay Rockets", and young Terry Cavanaugh gets a free pass to the local theatre for a month, ; Actually both Terry and Ken Weppler submitted identical names, but since Terry's entry was received first, Ken has agreed that it should take the prize. Close.to 70 names were suggested and the Hockey Executive, acting as judges, reduced the number to 6 names which were then voted on by a secret ballot. The name selected just. edged out "ferrace Bay Hornets" while "Kay-Cees", "Barons", "Millers" and "Wildcats", followed in that order. Congratulations Terry Cavanaugh (and Ken Weppler too) and best wishes to the North Shore Hockey League team that will carry the name "Terrace Bay Rockets". 0-0-0 LADIES! AUXILIARY The Community Church Ladies! Auxiliary met in the Recreation Centre on Wednesday December lst, with the president, Mrs. R. Ostling in the chair. The meeting opened with the singing of the carol "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" followed by The Lords Prayer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Secretary. Myrs..G. Maitland gave the treasurer's report showing most gratifying results from the recent Christmas bazaar. Mrs. Milo Martin, Mrs. David McDonald and Mrs. H. Marsh were asked to serve as a nominating committee to draw up a slate of officers for the ensuing year. The matter of decorating the hall fon the Christmas church service was next discussed and many ladies offered to help with this work. Mrs. Gordon Rowlandson took over the meeting and read a very interesting Christmas story and also conducted two amusing Christmas contests. Tea was served by the hostesses Mrs, Monty Paget and Mrs. T. Turner. 0-0-0
