On their return the couple will reside in Terrace Bay at 145 Birch Crescent. 0-0-0 TERRACE BAY COMETS DEFEAT LONGLAC WOODLANDS On Sunday afternoon September 26th at the local ball field before one of the largest crowds to witness a softball game during the entire season, Terrace Bay Comets, winners of the Fraser-Brace Trophy, defeated the LongLac Woodlands team, winners of the Geraldton and district softball title. The score of the 9 inning game was 9 - 0,. For the first three innings both teams appeared to be quite evenly matched with the Comets holding only a single run advantage.- As the fourth inning got underway, however, the Comets uncorked some of the hitting power that had won for them the local title, and before the inning was over, five runs had crossed the plate which made the score top heavy by 6 - O against the boys from LongLac, Ontario. Single counters in the 6th - 7th and 8th ran the score to 9 = O fer Comets while the only threat from LongLac Woodlands came in the 9th, but Comets came through with an excellent fielding job which left three men on base after a forced out et home plate. Actually, the play was really much closer than the score indicates, and while the LongLac boys were subjected to a lot of good-natured ribbing, from all reports they enjoyed their visit, and Terrace Bay was glad to have them come, Perhaps by the time next season rolls around, teams from the two communities will meet officially in district playoffs.
