AROUND THE BALL FIELD In the Terrace Bay Men's Softball League Hydro and Comets are all a en tied up for first spot and all in all every team is making a good showing despite the fact that Alkies have dropped all their games, The series is still in its early stages and we feel sure thet the Alkies will give a good account of themselves before the season is over, Comets Visit Marathon: Last Sunday two Terrace Bay teams visited outside points, The Comets mi Ree CR journeyed to Marathon and in a nine inning gome with Marathon's All Stars came out on the tail end of a 7-4 count, Tho..looal lads give credit for tho winto Marathe million dollar uniforms and a whiz-bang pitcher. For the locals the outstanding star was J. Cavanaugh both at bat and in the field. Merv Marietta in the box turned in a stellar performance for Terrace Bay. Unfortunately Joe Heenan and Frank Whitfield were unable to make the trip. Genial Steve Brodack took over the mound in the last two innings and really turned in a fine performance. Marietta, Vhanmics Visit Red Rock: While the Comets were visiting Marathon, Fraser Brace Whamnies chartered a bus and travelled to Red Rock where they played a double header with an all star team from that community. Again the locals went down to devcat but not without a good fight. In the first game they lost by a score of 7-4 and a hotly contested second game ended in a 14-13 win for Red Rock, Unfortunatelywe have been unable to secure the names of the Red Rock players.
