20, 1947. 'il TRAGEDY STRIKES AS FOUR ARE KILLED | | This morning (Nov. 20th) at Loon, Ontario, <6 "il miles east of Port Arthur, four lives were snuffed out Ht in a level crossing accident when a car driven by Harold (1 Guse (a former LongLac Pulp and Paper Company employee) ||| was struck by eastbound train #4, on the main line of the j, C.P.R. Victims of the accident were Harold's wife, | child and brother Francis, and Kay Sully, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Sully of Schreiber. Percy has been a vil valued employee at Terrace Bay for the past 18 months. Severely injured in the crash was Harold Guse who | left the LongLac organization four months ago to return to the C.P.R., a former employer. | 1 Our deepest sympathy is extended to all relatives and frierds who have been so suddenly bereaved and shock-~ ed by this tragic accident. TREE CONSERVATION The rigid programm: of tree conservation which has been in force at Terrace Bay since construction work began has paid real dividends by way of providing a beautiful forest setting for our Townsite. Perhaps the most beautiful of all the trees are the many birches which add so much to the picture. Removal of birch bark from the trees is unsightly, to say the least, and in certain instances is liable to kill the tree. It is earnestly requested, therefore, that the practice of removing bark from the birch trees be discontinued. Parents are urged to caution their children accordingly. OOK FRASER BRACE DANCE HUGE SUCCESS! a More than 300 merry-makei's crowded into the Terrace Bay Recreation Hall on Thurs- day evening, November 13th, for what proved to be one of the most successful social events held to date at Terrace Bay. Feature of the affair was Maurice Jackson's 15-piece Great Lakes Girls Orchestra and Floor Show, which included tap dance teams, tap routines, guitar and vocal ducts, and vibraphone duets. 'The orciestra made the trip from the Lakehead by special bus. The entire show was planned, scheduled and sponsored by a committee of Fraser Brace employees headed by Chairman Ted Jones, Jr., and including Eddie Marnell, Gerry Ewing-Chow, Kosti. Lindstrom and Charlie Evans. (cont'd on page 4)
