WHO'S WHO AROUND THE JOB 25 July 1947 p& D.L. Emerson - Resident Engineer - Terrace Bay Project Genial bespectacled David Lewis Emerson first saw the light of day at a little know spot in the state of New York called Oxford, where his dad operated a hardware business. After schooling at Oxford and Clarkson Tech., Dave entered Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill., from which he graduated in 1940 as a Civil Engineer with the degree of B.S. Following graduation, Dave Emerson was hired by F.F. "Finn" Martin (Kimberly-Clark Corp's Industrial Relations Department) who was out recruiting promising young graduates whose academic qualifications and scholastic records indicated top-flight ability. "Finn" Martin's judge- ment in selecting Dave Emerson was fully justified as evidenced by the rapid recognition of Dave's abilities in the Field Service Department as he moved from Mill to Mill working on major shutdowns ef equipment which lasted over periods of a week to three months. Further recognition came when Dave Emerson was appointed Resident Engineer at Kapuskasing, Ontario, where Kimberly-Clark built a modern air-conditioned mill for the manufacture of crepe wadding which is converted into KReenex and Kotex. Dave Emerson first came to Terrace Bay in November '46 and he took over the helm as Resident Engineer in January '47. In 1941, Dave married Gladys Merithew of Norwich, New York. The Emersons have two children, Mary Lee and David, both born at Neenah, Wisconsin. Dave's hobbies include a well equipped home workshop and a newly acquired interest in photography (he recently became the onwer of a movie camera). He is also an ardent gardener. Dave's personality, leadership ability, ability to get along well with people and tremendous capacity for detailed work, assure his success. In our first, "who's who around the job", we pay tribute to Dave Emerson, our Resident Engineer at Terrace Bay -- "a good guy".
