House Sixteen - continued Page Three During the week, three new members arrived at House 16 to add more gaiety to this happy throng; these being Ruth Bangartt, Ina Parker and Terry Paulmert. Now Ina and Kay have taken up residence atthe Nurses! Quarters in the Hospital and, believe me, we really were sorry to see them go, Last weekend proved to be quite exciting and it's funny none of our ambitious members showed up for breakfast on Sunday and it looked almost like they weren't going to make dinner either. Now that Spring is here, you find the girls going in for long walks through the woods, some with intentions of going fishing -- haven't seen any fish so far! One of the girls decided to take a trip to Port Arthur last weekend. I don't know whether it was for a rest or excitement but, anyway, we a11 hope you had a good time, Anne. By the way, the girls in House 16 are ready to form a soft-ball team so how about some action from some of you ball fans at the Comps. In conelusion, I would like to offer, on behalf of the girls and myself, our sincere thanks to all those who have participated in showing us such wonderful hospitality and good times at Terrace Bay -- and, by the way, who said there was nothing to do here! -o0o- HERE AND THERE Malcolm Spidell has beer preparing for the spring drive during the last few days. His cook, a man of Edinburgh, knows the finer side of the culinary arts and has put out some swell chuck. On Monday a party of three men proceeded thirty miles up river by canoe to open the upper drive camps, while five or six men were readying the main drive camp. A bcom has been strung across the Aquasabon River to pick up the vanguard cf the pulp logs. Within the next few days, Highway Engineers will start construction on a camp near Malcolm's establishment. By the end of sumer, they have proposed to run the highway through Malcolm's office and to bury his water supply under twenty-six feet of fill. -o0o- To those of you who have lost all sense of time in your enthusiasm for camp living, we wish to point out that Sunday, May llth, will be Mother's Day. Let's not forget. -o00o- Our readers will be sorry to hear that Mrs. John Jeanerette was recently taken to a Port Arthur hospital in order to have a piece of steel removed from her eye. The accident was caused by a chip from a knife blade which broke off while she was helping unpack furni- ture. -o00- Mr. Art. Wakeman of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Neenah, arrived Thursday, May lst, for a two-week visit to Terrace Bay, -o00- Frank Madden returned from his holiday at Sault Ste. Marie last Thursday. He appears to have had a grand time and, no doubt, has come back for a well-earned rest. -o0o- : Those barrels that Walt 'Sailor' Lemiski has been carting scuth are not for a bush still. A raft is being assembled at the pumphcuse site down on Lake Supericr as an aid to further study of the lake bottom in preparation for laying the pipe line through which the permanent water supply for Terrace Bay will be pumped, Walt expects to order the 'cast off' some time this week.
