Pe igi {o4) por \ Core Olty? 3 \OVN 0} 16 om VOL. 2 NO. 8 LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY May 6th, 1947 GoOD_NEWS Work is progressing rapidly on the new kitchen and dining halls at the Lower Camp -- just north of the Recreation Hall. This new unit is part of an over-all plan to swing both Upper and Lower Camps to up-to-the-minute cafeteria service which will mean plenty of hot food for everyone right from the steam tables. _ While the 40' x 100' wing nearest the Recreation Centre is to be used as a dining hall during the day, it has been designed as a dual-purpose building, and during evening hours will be used for recreational purposes when required. With a 16-foot clearance above the floor, it should be possible for everyone to see the screen from any seat in the build- ing during a moving picture show, with at least 500 seats available and that should really be welcome news to everyone who has crowded into the present Recreation Hall on movie nights. Another welcome bit of news is the fact that the former Lower Camp Bakeshap is having its face lifted and within the next couple of weeks, Terrace Bay will boast of a modern Barber Shop which will be operated by Mr. T. W. Kelly of Fort William. The opening date will soon be announced. -o0o- AROUND THE TOWN Last Tuesday night in Toronto, a sister of Mrs. Ralph Williams passed away and Mrs, Williams left for Toronto, Thursday noon, to attend the funeral. Ralph, who was in Neenah, Wisconsin, at the time, travelled by plane from Chicago to be with his wife and attend the funeral. Our deepest sympathy is extended to you both. -o0o- Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Keenan and young son, Douglas, were Terrace Bay visitors over the week-end at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Roberts. Dr. Keenan has been a staff physician at the Fort William Sanitarium for the past five years. -o0o- It has been brought to our attention that Mrs. F. Ambrus, sister of Mrs. Len Christianson, and her mother, Mrs. T. Rushton, from Portage La Prairie, are visiting the Christiansons. We hope you enjoy a pleasant stay. a600= NEW TOWNSITE ARRIVALS We are glad to announce the following new members of our fast-growing Terrace Bay community: Mr. and Mrs. Rupe Clowes and family; Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Wakeham; Mr. and Mrs. Len Cox and family; and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jones Sr. It is hoped that you will all have your feet on the ground soon and be able to enjoy our community LT. -o0o- ee ee en ee ee The recent disappearance of a Trans-Canada Airline's plane in British Columbia, just three minutes flying time from Vancouver Airport, with fifteen passengers and crew members aboard, was more than a mere news! item for those of us at Terrace Bay who recog- nized the name of D. A. Vance in the passenger list of that plane.
