A Japanese Internment Camp, during World War II, outside of Schreiber, about 2 miles east on Highway 17. There were other internment camps besides Angler and Neys in the area. There was a large camp on Killala Lake road, north from Neys, that housed Japanese Canadians from B.C. who had been uprooted and were moved inland after Pearl Harbour.
