HONOUR NEW YEAR BABIES In January of 1946,the Town Council asked the Women's Institute if their organization would present a silver cup or mug to the first baby born in the New Year. Each year since,the Council has provided the silver baby mug and the Institute has arranged the presentation. They have prepared an afternoon party for the mother and baby. The Institute has solicited gifts from the business people of the town and each Institute member also provides a suitable baby gift. A 11 is presented in a decorated baby basket.
