THE ADELAIDE HUNTER HOODLESS HOMESTEAD This is the birthplace of the founder of the Women's Institutes,It is situated at St, George,Ontario,Brant County,Canada.lt was purchased by the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada,and is being restored in the period when Adelaide Hoodiess lived here from I858-I9I0. The house is typical of that period,heated by stoves and has a large stone fireplace in the cellar.It has a heavy balustrade in the hall stairway.There were nine rooms in the house. Many pieces of the furniture are of the original furnishings, Some had been returned to the home by a granddaughter of Adelaide Hoodless, Several pieces of chins and silver in the home are of the dishes owned by her parents when they lived there,Several quilts, linens,and bedspreads are also desplayed and were in the Hoodless family of that period.
