(forests continued) tremenduous machines thst tear up our top soil which is washed away by rain;we bulldoze down the forests that pollute and silt up the rivers and lakes-The Government---Ministry of Natural Resourses ,has been planning and acting to protect the forest of this great country of ours.Cut over areas are being reforestrated,t trees planted,waste chips chopped up to provide more soil, More careful procedures and planning are used by the lumbering firms in harvesting the forests. The most merchantable timbers are of the evergreen softwoods such as spruce,balsam, and pines. Br. Columbia, Ontario,and Cuebec have the largests stands o^ timber.
