AT WI MEETING--The 12th annual North Thunder Bay Women's Institute meeting was held in Nipigon recently, with this group of people taking part. From the left. Barbara Weese. Mrs, K. C. Walker, M. Walker, provincial Tweeds-muir history curator, guest speaker; and Mrs. P. Boyko, past president. Reports given included auditor's report; president's report: delegates to Guelph convention; provincial Board Director; rally report; fair committee report; convener's reports; Agriculture and Canadian institute; citizenship and education; home economics and health; historical research and current events; public relations and history curator. A noon luncheon of hot turkey was served to the 55 guests and delegates by the ladies of the Royal Purple. Head table guests were Miss Barbara Weese, home economist; Mrs. R. Johnson, Board director; Mr. M. Chamberlain, Dept. of Agriculture; Mrs. O. Grann, secretary; Mrs. Cathy Davis, president; Reeve I. Mutch and wife Anne, and Mrs. R. C. Walker. Ladies at the meeting were from Pass Lake-Pearl; Mcln-tyre; Jumbo Gardens, Upsala, Ouimet-Dorion; Sterling-Lyons; McGregor, Kakabeka Falls, Schreiber and Nipigon. At the luncheon Reeve Mutch welcomed the ladies to Nipigon. Mr. Chamberlain brought North Thunder Bay WI Holds Annual Meeting An all day session of reports, luncheon, and fellowship was in store for ladies who attended this year's 12th annual meeting of the North Thunder Bay? Women's Institute, held in Nipigon Legion Hall, The ladies were registered in the morning and welcomed to the meeting by Mrs. Anna Marie Schnfelhardt of Nipigon WI, and a reply was given by Mrs. Carol Stadey, of the Upsala WI. greetings from the Ministry of the Department of Agriculture and Food. He stressed that today is the day of "change and challenge" and it is important to keep astride of these changes in order to keep up with the economics of life. He commended the women of the Institute who work with the young people of the 4-H programs who exercise much of their Influence on these young people. Mr, Chamberlain spoke of th« urban-rural exchange program that is being convened by Miss Sally Pajamaki in Thunder. Bay. It has been set up to allow youngsters from urban centres' to spend a week on a farm, children in the age group of 12 to15, and now farms are being sought to take in youngsters. A Welcome Acquisition The Geraidton and District Association for the Mentally Retarded was fortunate enough to acquire the Barker home from the estate of the late Roy Barker. The building has been renovated and will soon operate as a residence for adult retarded people. The spacious grounds will allow plenty of room for vegeatble gardens and there are many beautiful trees, shrubs and perennial flowers planted.
