Pictured in front of what is now the Schreiber Hotel is the town water supplier, a sturdy horse, its driver and one large water tank. Old time residents of the area will remember the years when the water supply was de-livered in this fashion. The picture is from the collection of E. C. Everett's pictorial history of the North Shore. PEARSON PAPERS DONATED Maryon Pearson, widow of the former prime minister, presented the Lester B. Pearson papers Friday to the National Archives in Ottawa. Mrs. Pearson said she hopes thev will be useful to future historians. District History Recorded For TV By Young People SCHREIBER (Special) -- A documentary on their home town and the neighboring communities of Rossport, Terrace Bay and Jackfish has been completed by six young Schreiber residents and is presently being shown over television channel 13. The group researched documents, both in history and geography, photographed old pictures and interviewed older citizens concerning the past and present as to employment, recreation, general development and reaction to national crises. The young researchers, Allan Turner, Kevin and Lola Scott, Darlene Fummerton, Brenda Cebrario and Linda Huard, said what pleased them most about their 10 - week project was their own increasing interest and pride in their area.
