Mr. and Mrs. Allan Fetterly of Halifax, N.S., were weekend guests of their aunt Mrs. Orton Harrison. : Mrs. William Carscadden is spending a month with her brother Mr. Gordon Morrow of Botha, Alberta. Dr. and Mrs. Gerry Heymans are vacationing in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Wade and Ian and Mr. Ralph MacDonald are visiting friends and relatives in western Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Mac- Donald accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wade of Red Deer en- joyed a tour through the eastern provinces. Mrs. James Shaver of Nanaimo, B.C. is spending a few weeks with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Edgar Loucks. MASSIVE LOGS -- Timber above was felled a few miles south of Metcalfe Village in 1908. Roll call was answered by 15 members and Mrs. Keith Dugdale, delegate to the Of- ficers Conference in Waterloo 'recently, gave her report on Public Relations. Business discussed included Rural Fairs and Programmes for the year. Luncheon convenor was Mrs. Mary Dowling and Mrs. Helen Boothe served. At the North Russell W.I.'s June meeting, also held in In- stitute Home, 17 members answered roll call: "A garden hint learned from experience." Motto -- Credit makes cheap things cost- ly. The minutes were read and the treasurer's report given. Motion that all bills be paid. Cards were signed by all present for three sick members. Dorothy Morrice and Ruby Hamilton are convenors for Agriculture and Canadian In- dustries. Poem read: "Testimony of a Farmer". Guest speaker was John Nat- trass, junior farmer from the Nor- thern part of England, and he showed very interesting slides. Lunch convenors were Mrs. Robert Boothe and Mrs. Keith Dugdale. Lunch was served with the assistance of other members. A social hour was enjoyed by all. Russell Village By Mary Inglis Thank you very much -- Milk!! The highlight of the June meeting of the Russell Village Women's Institute was having Miss Wendy Hodges, our Russell County Dairy Princess as guest speaker. As June was dairy month, special emphasis was place on the importance of milk and dairy pro- ducts in our daily diet. Mrs. Judi Hubbard presented her report of the Waterloo Of- ficers Conference and Mrs. Erva Cumming reported on the Russell District Annual Meeting. Members are looking forward to exhibiting entries at the local fairs and Ottawa Exhibition. In lieu of a-regular meeting in July, an historic trip to celebrate the Rideau Canal 150th Anniver- sary is planned on July 6th with a stopover at Laurier House and the Parliament Buildings. 'Pana.
