All 106 machines registered for the rally finished the 50 mile course. The weather- man co-operated to the fullest by providing a beautiful wintery day. The rally is run on a 'hidden time' principal. The winner of the Bill Morrow Memorial Trophy for closest time in the rally was entry number 107, Albert Hayter, with a time of 3 hours and 42 minutes. Closest time for a female was entry number 45, Susan Smygrwaty with a time of 3 hours and 41 minutes. Other prize winners were Richard Casselman, Fanny Casselman and Glenn Lowe. Jack La France, entry number 138 with a time of 4 hours and 36 minutes, won a trophy for the slowest time. The food service was handled quite well by the Rangers. Our complements and thanks to the cooks and bakers for the marve- lous meat loaf and scalloped potatoes and cakes and squares. Certainly a hearty meal for the snowmobilers and their families and friends! The organizer would like to thank everyone who participated in the rally for making. it the success that it was. Not to be forgotten are the numerous (too numerous to name, but you know who you are) volunteers who helped with the various jobs necessary to put a rally such as ours together. Without your help our job would be impossible, so a big thank you to all of you. The department now has two tele- phone emergency numbers for the complete township: 821-2121 is to be used as first choice for the eastern section of the township and 826-2424 as first choice for the western section. In cases where any difficulty is experienced reaching the first choice number, the other number can be used. A new internal communica- tion system has recently been in- stalled in all departmental vehi- cles and a pager system is also being used by some volunteers at each of our four stations. The Os- goode Volunteer Firefighters As- sociation has undertaken a pro- ject to raise $4,000, for the purchase of additional pager un- its. This will improve response time in cases of emergency and will not mean an increase in tax dollars having to be used for this purchase. The Association is presently organizing an Auction Sale to be held in late spring to raise this money. We would appreciate do- nations of any items which may be sold at this auction. Kenmore schoolmate get-together Perhaps there are many people who are not aware that Kenmore was once the site of a very busy continuation school. Many years have passed since the school closed its doors for the last time and an effort is presently being made to bring to- gether former teachers and stu- dents who were once part of the thriving institute of learning. The reunion will be held at the Metcalfe Exhibition grounds on July 21.
