ENTREPRENEUR These are not the pumpkins used by the Fairy Godmother to provide a coach for Cinderella. They may. however, provide additional income for Stephen Jones, 10, of Forced Road who was out hopefully the other day, proving that Halloween is where you find it. The $100,000 fire was confined to.the office building of the Em- brun lumber company, but all the business papers were saved. Management is now making plans to rebuild. "There is nothing finalized yet. We are talk- ing to the customers this week," says Manager Jacques Emard. Business continues as usual. What's in a name? Baird McNeill is beating tiie gun again on a change of name for Russell Township. "Too many Russells," Baird says. "Too much confusion. We have Prescott-Russell, Russell Township, Russell Village. I sug- gest we change the name of Russell Township to Castor Township. We could also start us- ing the name Castor Valley. It has pizzazz."' ; "Tt is a name harking back to the fur-traders and coureurs des bois. It is a name with history behind it. The Castor was named before Russell Village. It is part of Canada's history. For a long time it was allowed to die. Now, I think we should bring it back and ac- cord it the honour that is its due." When they moved the front door three feet to the left and installed a plate glass, floor-to-ceiling window, it turned out to be an invitation to disaster. The first casualty was a lady who ran head on into the plate glass were the door used to be, receiving a nasty bruise on her forehead. Next, pro- minent resident Meredith Rombough shoved his hand right through the window, in the mistaken impression that he was pushing the door open. He received a nasty cut on the hand. Plaudits to Jack. Tyo, genial proprietor of Russell Red and White, for the fine new porch, constructed in front of the store, replacing one which stood there for fifty years. The old porch was getting so shaky that many of Jack's customers preferred to leap across it rather than risk crossing it. With the new porch, there is no danger and many customers walk around it, or simply stand there, enjoying the feeling of stabili- ty. SOOOSCOONOGCOO ; Dreaming in the middle of the day? Shame on you. But, if you happened to be seeing giant pink rabbits or walking bat- teries, or even walking potatoes, Oct. 31, you weren't dream- ing this time! You were experiencing the annual Russell Hallo- ween Parade. Don't be thinking you're crazy if you got up the next morning and had "'trick or treaters" at your door again. They, too, were not a figment of your imagination. It seemed some kids didn't get enough "goodies" Friday night and \ decided to go around and collect all the leftovers! = * CASTOR REVIEW gga CHRISTMAS GIFT CERTIFICATE This Certificate entitles the recipient to a one year subscrip- tion of the Castor Review.
