Dempsey, of 56 Castlefield Dr., Hamilton, died Oct. 9 at the Henderson General Hospital in Hamilton. He was 60. Mr. Dempsey was the husband of Aletha Whitteker; father of Mrs. David Graham (Sandra), of Burlington; and Darlene at home. He was the grandfather of Christa Lee Graham, son of Mrs. James Dempsey, _ of Russell; brother of George Dempsey, of Stoney Creek; Mrs. Earl Wilkinson (Mildred), of Hull: and Ellery, of Aylmer, Ont. He was predeceased by his brother Cecil Dempsey, of Ottawa. Funeral services were held Oct. 11 at Cresmount Funeral Home, Hamilton. He was buried at Chapel Memorial Gardens Cem- etery in Hamilton. The race was won by a troop from Ottawa in a contraption of rubber tubes and cedar poles. Participants were required to build their own rafts which were 445-5524 fashioned with everything from five-gallon drums to self-inflating Music by the aircraft rescue chutes.
