Submissions should be handed in by the end of the previous week. Russell Review The Review is waiting for your contribution, be it a photograph, an event, a letter to the editior, a 50th anniversary, a choice recipe, the top composition in your class, a poem . any aspect of community life. Our opening game, November 16th, we put Metcalfe down 4 - 1. Goal scorers for Russell being David Latimer 2, Kevin O'Reilley and _ Ronnie Bouwhuis with one each. Sunday morning, November 21, we met with Greely and ended with a 3 all tie. Russell goal scorers being Ronnie Bouwhuis 2 and Kevin O'Reilley with one. Keep up the good work fellows. If you want to see hockey at its best, be on hand at the Russell Arena for home games every Tuesday night, starting at 6 o'clock. The boys and coaches sure do appreciate and need your support. Oops! The headline at the top of the last page in the October edition of the Review read: 'J. Albert Belanger (your friend and mine!)."' Obviously, the paranthetical comment was a mistake which mysteriously appeared between editing and printing. Mr. Belanger's appeal is some- thing Russell residents are cap- able of assessing for themselves. The Review, despite appear- ances, would not even pretend to make that decision for them. Ramblings Dear Citizens of Russell and Area: Just a note from the "Hornet's Nest" at the Recreation Centre to bring you up to date on the local recreation happenings in and around town. Adult Christmas Skating Party If you haven't already heard, the Recreation Department is planning a large fun night on Friday, December 3rd at the Community Centre. Ralph Gemmell will be here to play the organ live at ice level from 8:20 -- 9:30 p.m. so get those blades dusted off. From there everyone will preceed to the Hall upstairs where Ralph will be joined by the rest of his Group for another 3!» hours of dancing followed by a late evening's snack to conclude the festivities. Tickets will be available at the Rec. Office at only 2.50 per person, so keep Friday, December 3rd open for a good old-fashioned time. Special thanks to Jim Sullivan for changing his game dates from December 3 to November 14 and to Marilyn Sullivan for helping to organize the late evening snack for the Skating Night. Moms and Tots Skating Although only a handful of people expressed an interest in the programme, we'll give it a try anyway until at least Christmas. The programme will start offic- ially Monday morning, Novem- ber 29, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Centre. Cost will be just 50 cents per person. Fitness Class As little interest was shown for a "'Moms and Dads' fitness class at this time, I've decided to let it ride until January and perhaps we can tackle it again or maybe too, just try a Women's "Fun and Fitness"' class at that time. Children's Friday Night Movies Fri. Dec. 10 in Community Hall In an effort to initate the above programme which we _ have mentioned before, the Walt Disney Production of "Huckle- berry Finn plus two Christmas Cartoons will kick of what we hope will be a super Friday evening programme. Admission will be just $1.00 with the doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the movie at 6:30 p.m., so spread the word; if attendance is good we will establish a regular childrens movie program. Saturday Things As most things are now underway in the community for Hockey and Figure Skating, we've decided to explore the possibilities of a children's cult- ural programme that we'll call Saturday things. It will deal specifically with arts and crafts and will begin in the near future. Volleyball It's been brought to my attention by Chuck Norris that some people in our Community are anxious to start a mixed Volleyball league or just a general fun evening involving Ladies & Men to play Volleyball. How about it, are you interested? Perhaps if you are you could call Chuck at 445-2134. In closing, if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions to make, please feel free to call 445-2050 at any time. Yours in Recreation, R.H.
