Metcalfe Public School Graduation 100 and some Grade 8 students were honoured by their Princip- al, Teachers and Families at a very impressive Graduation- at Metcalfe District Public on Friday, June 25, 1976. The audience was entertained by several selections by the School Choir under the able direction of Mrs. McIlwaine and accompan- ied by Miss Laurie Davidson on the piano. The Valedictorian duties were very ably handled by Janet Crerar and the Guest Speaker, Mr. McLean was introduced by Mrs. Carkner, the Vice Principal of Metcalfe Public School. Mr. McLean is the new Principal for Osgoode District High School. In his address he explained the purpose of all the forms the students had been required to fill out pertaining to their High School Courses and urged them to give him their full support as they continued their road of Education at the Secondary School level. Diplomas were handed out to all the students by their respect- ive teachers Mr. Hansen, Mr. Bowley and Mr. Mclhagga then the special awards were given. The most impressive award was to Miss Thompson for the most improved student. It is nice to see someone honoured for their hard work and effort to improve their grades. Congradulations of course, must go to all the other award winners. Mr. Hansen, Mr. McElhagga and Mr. Bowley were each presented a trophy as a token of thanks by their respect- ive classes. Mr. Bowley urged the grad- uates to strive for the best grades possible and also to be them- selves and not follow the crowd just to be accepted. Set your goals high and work to achieve them. A special thanks to Mr. Thomas and all his staff for a graduation which the graduates, I'm sure will long remember.
