Apparently some Russellites think the sun owes us overtime now. Quite right! The kids are around with their bike-a-thon forms. Do be gener- ous. We find ourselves quite disap- pointed to see the Township of Russell advertising in Winchest- er's newspaper and not in our own. A few snide remarks may be in order, but some more reminders of our existence may do the trick. We do wonder, though, what it takes. Apparently everyone is quite content with the conditions of our roads around here. Any malcon- tent however, is invited to drop us a line. Sorry for being a few days late, folks. Copy came in late, all of us were busy and the holiday weekend didn't help. Full credit to our printers for saving the day. 90th Birthday Mrs Catherine Hamilton will be pleased to receive her neighbours and friends at the Russell Legion Hall June 5, 1976, in the afternoon from 2-5 on the occasion of her 90th Birthday. Long Distance Balloon On Tuesday, May 11, 1976, John McLean of R.R. 1, Winchester was driving home. Just as he turned into his driveway, he spied two pink balloons caught on a tree in his yard. After retrieving the balloons from the tree, he opened them up and found a note inside. The note was sent by Doug McGinn of Arlington, Illinois, U.S.A., and asked whoever found the note to write and let him know. Mrs. McLean, the former Joan Caroline Thompson of Russell, has written to Mr. McGinn and awaits news from him. Say, here's a way to get pen pals. RUSSELL SLAUGHTER HOUSE Under Gov't.
