Page 2 Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1976 Swimming Pool NEWS Russell Raiders Intermediate Russell's Hockey Team, known as Russell Raiders, are now making an impression in the league. They new have moved up from the basement and are now one point out of fifth place, due to three wins in the last four starts. Don Honey has been the main scoring punch with nine goals in these last four games. The teams outscored Manotick on Mano- tick's home ice 7-5, followed by a loss to Ottawa 6 to 4 even though they outplayed them in every aspect but goals. The following Sunday we travelled to Osgoode's Arena to outplay, outscore and outyell them to a 11-3 victory. North Gower visited us on Wednesday, January 28th and before the largest crowd of the year, we won 6 to 2. Bill Cherry has been playing well in nets the last two games and hopefully, between Doug Hay and Bill, we can count on more of the same. Ex-Embrun Panthers Bob Woods, Wayne Reid, Barry Graham and Ken Quaile are certainly a help to Rupert MacDonald, Eric Honey, Charlie Linegar, John Achtereekte, Gaye Ford, Greg Forbes, Doug Harten, Mike Barnhardt, Don Honey and Steve Morris. Come out and support your team and see some good honest hockey. Following are the last two home games and three away games before playoffs. SPORTS O.T.HLS. News On January 9, 1976, the annual New Year's Film Show was held. _ There was a great disappoint- ment to the people who showed up. The two films to be shown were Monty Python and Holy Grail and Black Christmas. Since Black Christmas is a restricted film, the Board of Education had to step in to make sure they wouldn't show it. Obviously the people were mad to find out Black Christmas wasn't going to be shown so most of the people left. Most of the people got refunds. The replacement film was 'Black Pirate". So much for that!! And on January 16th, there was a dance featuring M.R.Q. I hope everyone had a good time!!! The Junior Boys' Basketball keep on losing their games by big disastrous scores. I was talking to one of the players and told him that I had to put that the Junior Boys' Basketball Team lost by a score too disastrous to announce. He told me to announce the score no matter what. So here we go: Bell bombed Osgoode 96-13, Sir Robert Borden downed OTHS 98-15, Garneau beat Osgoode 86-15. One of the Garneau players set a new record for most points in a game with 52 points, and St. Pius demolished OTHS 99-18. In Senior Boys' Basketball, Sir Robert Borden beat Osgoode 68-44. High scorer for Osgoode was Scott Herr with 12 points. They won their first game on January 20th by beating Woods- worth 40-33. I'm glad they finally won a game. Keep trying, guys! ! Junior Girls' Volleyball regular season just started their season against Colonel By. All volleyball matches are best of five affairs. Anyway Colonel By beat Osgoode 3-1 in games. I will give them my good luck for the coming season. The OTHS Curling Team has played three games since the last edition. During those three games they won one, lost one, and tied one. Osgoode tied Merival (who is the best team in the league as far as standings go). The score was 4-4. Then they bombed Bell 17-6 and then St. Pius squeaked by Osgoode 8-7. No matter what anybody said I think we have the best team and when the season's over, we could be in first place. Colonel By High School held their First Annual Wrestling Tournament. There were over 300 wrestlers and 600 matches to determine the winners of the 15 weight classes. The Osgoode Wrestling Team finished ninth. Both Alex Marsden (98 Ibs) and Terry Ford (115 lbs.) won silver medals. In interscholastic wrestling OTHS lost to Garneau 32-24 but there was no referee. In other matches Sir Robert Borden beat Osgoode 28-22. If Jim Cossar would have won his last match, we would have won which would have been great. We also lost to St. Pius by a score of 40-20. After the match Pius admitted they had guys over-weight for that certain category. I always said, SMOKE SHOP BILL LOUCKS BARBER CONFECTIONERY Winchester Press Wintario Olympic Lottery "If you can't play fair, don't play" In our most recent match OTHS beat Mr. Mullen's Woods- worth Wrestling Team 24-15. Mr. Mullen was a Math teacher here last year before going to Woodsworth.
